Cosmetic Smile Design
Esthetic dentistry planned around the face, smile, bite, and natural tooth structure.
Also known as a drill-free bonded bridge, minimally invasive bonded porcelain bridge, or biomimetically bonded bridge, the modern Resin Bonded Bridge (RBB) is one of the most conservative and elegant ways to replace a single missing tooth.
Although today’s RBB traces its ancestry to the traditional Maryland bridge, the similarities largely end there. Modern resin bonded bridges are fundamentally different in their design, materials, bonding protocols, and long-term performance. They offer significantly improved esthetics, superior conservation of healthy tooth structure, and excellent long-term retention when carefully planned and executed.
Because little to no healthy tooth structure needs to be removed, an RBB is often an ideal solution for carefully selected patients who wish to avoid conventional bridges or who are not yet candidates for dental implants.
This is one of Dr. Keerti Sahasrabudhe’s favorite procedures to perform. She receives many referrals from orthodontists throughout the community to provide resin bonded bridges for both teenagers and adults as they complete orthodontic treatment and require replacement of congenitally missing or previously lost teeth.
Every RBB is designed with meticulous attention to esthetics, occlusion, biomimetic principles, and adhesive dentistry to create a restoration that is both beautiful and conservative.
Stay tuned—we’ll soon be sharing a large collection of clinical cases demonstrating just how versatile, natural-looking, and life-changing modern resin bonded bridges can be.
For the right patient, a resin bonded bridge can offer several important advantages. Unlike a conventional bridge, it typically requires little to no drilling of the neighboring healthy teeth. Unlike a dental implant, it does not require surgery, bone grafting, or a healing period before tooth replacement. This makes an RBB an excellent option for many teenagers who are still growing, as well as adults seeking the most conservative approach possible. Every patient is different, however, and Dr. Keerti carefully evaluates esthetics, bite, tooth position, bone support, and long-term prognosis to determine whether a resin bonded bridge, dental implant, or another treatment option is the best choice.
Patients may hear this type of treatment described as a Maryland bridge, drill-free bridge, drill-free bonded bridge, biomimetic esthetic bridge, biomimetically bonded bridge, minimally invasive bridge, minimally invasive bonded porcelain bridge, or RBB. The terminology can vary, but the goal is the same: a conservative, adhesive, esthetic replacement for a carefully selected missing tooth.
